Fred Hutch Cancer Center Swelling Spot (Compression Pad) Making Project
We sew swelling spots (compression pads) for cancer patients at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center because they’re lacking compression pads which are crucial for reducing swelling.
We are provided the necessary materials to make these, so we just need some hands to cut foam into little squares, cut fabric in various pad shapes, stuff foam cubes, then sew along the edges (with 1/2” seam allowance) with center lines.
The last time we made a batch of 20 pads, they were all distributed to patients in the PT department in 10 days, so we need your help! Beginner friendly; takes 1/2 - 1 hour to make one pad
